Karachi: City Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the improvement and rehabilitation of Sakhi Hassan Road in North Nazimabad, part of Karachi’s ongoing infrastructure upgrade.
The project, estimated at PKR 140 million, will convert the 0.883-kilometre road into a modern dual carriageway with a width of 30 feet. The plan includes road rehabilitation, drainage upgrades, and other essential civic improvements aimed at easing traffic and addressing flooding issues from nearby hilly areas affecting Sakhi Hassan Graveyard and surrounding localities.

Mayor Wahab said the initiative is part of a broader programme involving the construction and rehabilitation of 26 roads across the city. He highlighted that development work worth PKR 68 billion is currently underway, including completed projects such as Shahrah-i-Noor Jahan and ongoing work on key arteries like Sher Shah Suri Road and Shahrah-i-Bhutto from Qayyumabad to Kathore in Gadap Town.
He added that the upgraded drainage system on Sakhi Hassan Road will ensure proper rainwater disposal, providing relief to residents. The mayor also emphasised that improving travel facilities and civic infrastructure is a priority for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and pledged to complete all ongoing projects promptly.
