Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has instructed private developers to plant 1,000 saplings within three days inside their housing schemes, according to a publication.
The civic agency has constituted several teams of its Metropolitan Planning Wing. These teams have been tasked with inspecting the plantation drive in private societies.
This directive comes as a follow-up on LDA’s campaign which aims to ensure the development of green areas in residential schemes.
Section 15 of LDA Private Housing Scheme Rules – 2014 makes it mandatory for private schemes to develop green belts and plant trees under a landscape plan.
Moreover, the civic agency has asked private developers to take immediate steps with regard to carrying out an effective tree plantation campaign within the jurisdiction of their societies.
The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has offered its services to facilitate this initiative. Those seeking information and assistance with regard to developing green areas in their schemes can contact PHA Lahore Deputy Director Zahid Iqbal on this number: 03006960082
