Lahore: As many as four major roads in Lahore will be modelled after Singapore’s pedestrian-only zones (POZ) for walk and shop purposes, a news source reported on January 1.
According to details, the pedestrian zones will be established on MM Alam Road, Noor Jahan Road, Firdous Market Chowk, and Hussain Chowk. Special pedestrian corridors will also be established on MM Alam Road and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Vice Chairman S M Imran has already approved the map of this project.
This is the first time that LDA will be working on a pedestrian zone and special designs have been prepared for all of these roads.
Singapore-style pedestrian enclosure will also be established on MM Alam Road and benches will also be installed after every 100 metres. A large parking area will also be established for MM Alam Road.
These pedestrian zones will be given an individual touch through the use of different colours and cultural symbols.
