Lahore: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE)’s Lahore-Region-A has launched an investigation into an alleged case of illegal occupation of a land-piece said to be originally intended for the development of a children’s park – located in a housing scheme within the city’s Johar Town locale, according to news sources.
The said land area, which spans over 10 kanals, had reportedly been used as a children’s playing field for many years before recently being overrun by several alleged land grabbers – who, thereon, started construction activities on its premises.
The investigation, under the oversight of Deputy Director ACE Imtiaz Khichhi, has reportedly been initiated on the complaint filed by an individual privy to the issue – who has demanded the chief minister to issue directions for retrieving the land in question.
As per sources, the authority has heard the grievances of both sides party to the case and is expected to make a decision in the coming period. Following the proceedings and a site visitation, the deputy director also made notification of ACE’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
