Lahore: The Punjab government is planning to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and modern urban development strategies into ongoing and upcoming projects under the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) and the Central Business District (CBD) Punjab.
Secretary Housing Noor-ul-Amin Mengal said RUDA is set to emerge as a modern residential, commercial, and industrial hub. He emphasized that all administrative, legal, and construction-related hurdles must be resolved promptly to avoid delays in project completion.
Mengal shared these directions during a high-level meeting at the Housing Department on Thursday, convened to review the progress of RUDA’s ongoing initiatives under the guidance of the Chief Minister of Punjab. CEO RUDA Imran Amin presented a detailed briefing on various projects, including the development of the 46-kilometre-long river area.

Work on the embankment from Siphon to Jhok Forest is ongoing and is planned to be completed in three phases. The M-2 embankment is expected to be completed by mid-year, while the Mahmood Booti dumping site project is nearing completion. Development activities across residential and commercial areas are progressing rapidly.
Secretary Mengal also highlighted the importance of green infrastructure in Ravi City, urging timely implementation of environmental initiatives and urban green cores. He added that modern urban facilities will be introduced to promote sustainable and well-planned development in line with the vision of the CM Punjab.
During the meeting, officials from RUDA and Punjab CBD also met with Adviser to CM Punjab on artificial intelligence and special initiatives Ali Mustafa Dar to discuss the strategic integration of AI and digital tokenisation frameworks in ongoing and future projects. The discussions focused on using AI-driven governance for smart urban planning, predictive analytics, and enhanced data-driven decision-making.
A key highlight was the exploration of asset tokenisation frameworks aimed at increasing transparency, accessibility, and investor participation in large-scale urban development projects. Officials described digital asset tokenisation as a forward-looking approach to modernise real estate investment mechanisms and create secure, technology-backed financial ecosystems.

The Punjab government said the integration of AI and innovative technologies in urban development projects will streamline operations, improve service delivery, and ensure transparency in project execution.
Officials emphasized that with these initiatives, RUDA and CBD Punjab will set a benchmark for sustainable, modern, and technologically advanced urban development in the province.
