Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Friday notified that all field offices of the SBP Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) as well as authorised branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) would remain open for extended hours on June 30, a news source reported. It further stated that this provision would facilitate the collection of government receipts, duties, and taxes.
To this effect, cheques collection will remain open until 7 pm and cash counter until 10 pm. For facilitating this measure, the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT) has also arranged a special clearing at 7 pm on the same day.
Moreover, SBP has asked all banks to keep their branches open on June 30 until such a time that it is necessary to facilitate a special clearing for the government transactions.
Earlier, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) set June 30 as the deadline for paying taxes under the Assets Declaration Scheme 2019. The deadline also applies to payment of default surcharge.
