Islamabad: The General Manager of Guangzhou Metro Group (GMG), a state-owned Chinese transportation company, has said the firm is prepared to assist Pakistan in developing a bullet train project if the country seeks support.
Speaking to a local media outlet, the GM highlighted that Guangzhou Metro handled billions of passenger journeys in 2024, with millions relying on the service every week. He stressed that safety and punctuality remain the company’s top priorities, given the massive number of daily commuters.

He attributed the system’s success to a highly skilled workforce with advanced technical expertise, noting that this capability has earned Guangzhou Metro recognition both in China and abroad.
The GM pointed out that GMG has already contributed technology and expertise to transit projects in Pakistan, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Hong Kong, and several other regions. He said this reflects the global standards the company has set in metro planning, construction, and operations.
According to him, Guangzhou Metro’s experience could prove valuable for Pakistan if it moves ahead with plans for a high-speed rail system.
