Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Committee has granted in-principle approval for the construction of the 29-kilometre Dir Motorway and directed the relevant authorities to immediately begin the land acquisition process.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the PPP Committee chaired by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi at the Chief Minister’s House in Peshawar.
The proposed motorway, to be developed under the PPP model, will stretch from the Chakdara Interchange to Baroon in Lower Dir district at an estimated cost of PKR 69 billion.

The chief minister instructed the concerned departments to initiate land acquisition without delay, establish clear implementation timelines and ensure the project is completed within the stipulated period.
He also directed officials to prepare proposals for amendments to the existing PPP framework to streamline procedures, reduce implementation timelines and accelerate the execution of development projects.
According to the provincial government, the motorway is expected to improve road connectivity, reduce travel time and facilitate the movement of people and goods across Malakand Division.
Officials said the project will also support tourism by improving access to the region’s scenic destinations while creating employment opportunities, promoting commercial activity and contributing to the area’s socio-economic development.
