Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has recently launched an online electronic system for tax audit hearings and assessment cases, according to a press release issued by the authority. The system will facilitate the taxpayers who will no longer need to visit the tax offices for their hearings.
The FBR has enabled the e-hearings module in IRIS (authority’s software) which gives access to both parties i.e. dedicated room established for the officials and the taxpayers. All the online hearings will be recorded by the authority and saved for legal as well as administrative use.
The newly added module in the Iris has been tested by the authority and as part of the first phase, it has been enabled for Large Taxpayers’ Offices (LTO) Islamabad, Regional Tax Office (RTO) Rawalpindi, RTO Faisalabad and RTO Peshawar for testing purpose. In the second phase, FBR is enabling the same module for all the remaining regional tax offices – for which instructions to all the Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue have been dispatched to set up dedicated e-hearing rooms in their field offices latest by May 31.
The e-hearing module also enables and gives access to the head office to join any hearing at any time without any prior notice assessment and evaluation purposes. The online hearing and assessment system will completely discard the conventional hearing format in the officer’s office by July 1.
