Multan: The Punjab government has decided to charge industrial units and domestic consumers for their groundwater supply consumption, a news source reported.
The Local Government (LG) Department has directed all local bodies concerned to devise a mechanism for this purpose.
It is pertinent to mention that the Supreme Court has ordered the authorities concerned to prepare a water tariff for domestic and commercial consumers utilising this provision.
The government will also conduct a survey in Multan, Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Rawalpindi to bring mineral water companies into the tax net.
These companies will be liable to pay PKR 1 per bottle to the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).
