Islamabad: President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday expressed the hope that the recent positive measures taken by the government would help in reducing the interest and inflation rates in the country beginning from February 2020 onwards — a news source reported.
The President made these remarks as the chief guest at the All Pakistan Chambers Presidents Conclave 2020 (APCPC 2020) that was organised by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). He stated that the present state of the economy was due to mistakes in the past and FATF issues. However, he said that the government was making every effort to resolve the situation and hoped that there would be some improvements soon.
President Alvi also noted that China had been able to achieve fast economic growth by providing easy financing to SMEs, and added that the current government was focusing on doing the same. He further praised ICCI’s initiative for organising APCPC 2020 and said that such events should continue as they promoted dialogue between the government and the private sector.
