Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced its financing plan for the proposed Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan Motorway, a 360-kilometre infrastructure project aimed at improving regional connectivity across the province.
According to KP Finance Adviser Muzzammil Aslam, the project will be financed through provincial budgetary resources supported by fiscal discipline and improved financial management.
He said the provincial government has completed initial groundwork for the motorway and is preparing to allocate funds in phases, with an estimated initial requirement of PKR 200 billion to PKR 250 billion.
The adviser noted that the financing approach is based on internal resource mobilisation, with a focus on reducing reliance on external borrowing for major infrastructure development.

He added that the Peshawar–DI Khan Motorway is planned as a key connectivity project intended to enhance transportation links between northern and southern districts of the province.
Officials said the project is expected to be developed in multiple phases, with portions of construction to be carried out using provincial resources under a structured development plan.
The government also indicated plans to continue launching large-scale infrastructure initiatives in the coming months as part of its broader development agenda.
