Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is to approve the province’s PKR 198.9 billion interim budget, according to a news source. The Provincial Finance Secretary Shakil Qadir Khan said the budget for the July-October period would be presented to the cabinet for approval.

Details have shown that the province’s four month development outlay will be PKR 198.6 billion for the first quarter of next fiscal year. The proposal has shown that the cabinet would be asked to authorise expenditure for current and development budget from 1st July 2018 to 31st October 2018, adopting austerity measures for 2018-2019 and for the release policy for the next four months. The cabinet is also expected to approve 10% ad hoc relief allowance to all provincial government employees and a 10% increase in pension to former employees.

Of the total amount, PKR 24 billion will be given for the Annual Development Program (ADP), PKR 9.8 billion for district ADP, and PKR 18.9 billion for donor-funded projects.
