Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Wednesday assured Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail that all issues related to the National Highway Authority (NHA) in the province would be addressed promptly.
The assurance came during a meeting between the two officials, where the governor raised concerns regarding NHA projects and highway conditions in Balochistan. Minister Aleem Khan said that the construction, rehabilitation, and upgrading of highways in the province remained a top priority for the NHA, despite security challenges in the region.
Highlighting progress on the 813-kilometre-long Pakistan Expressway (N-25) — connecting Karachi, Quetta, and Chaman — the minister confirmed that work on the project has already commenced and is expected to be completed within two years. He assured that the expressway would meet international standards, ensuring safety and quality in construction.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had approved the reconstruction of the highway last year, with an estimated cost of PKR 300–350 billion, to improve safety and facilitate smoother transportation in the province.
During the meeting, both officials discussed a range of mutual concerns, including ongoing NHA projects and the prevailing political situation in the country. Governor Mandokhail also invited Minister Aleem Khan to visit Quetta to review progress on infrastructure initiatives firsthand.
The federal minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upgrading highways across Balochistan, emphasizing the importance of modern, safe, and efficient road networks for economic activity and public safety.
