Islamabad: A council of the National Highway Authority (NHA) adopted a business plan on Monday, under which it approved rules and regulations with respect to NHA’s lease policy, a news source reported.
Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed presided over a meeting of the council in Islamabad. Secretaries of various divisions, along with other officials concerned, attended the meeting.
The meeting finalised 114 sites situated in NHA’s Right of Way (ROW) for leasing purposes. It also identified 15 sites which will be rented out in near future.
The minister was informed that NHA recently leased out Sahianwala service area along Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad motorway. The authority will earn an annual sum of PKR 78 million through this process.
In a similar measure, NHA rented out several facilities along Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway and Tandlianwala in a bid to generate annual revenue of over PKR 90 million.
In response, Murad Saeed said that business transactions related to NHA should be made transparent. Moreover, he directed the officials concerned to identify more economic ventures for the authority.
