Peshawar: The Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) has announced its decision to construct footpaths along all roads situated in the Hayatabad locality, a news source reported on January 4. Previously, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Finance Minister Taimur Salim Jhagra and Local Government Minister Yousuf Ayub had issued directives to this effect.
According to the details revealed, the civic agency intends to reconstruct all major intersections, including the frequented Zarghuni Chowk, in a bid to facilitate commuters and to ease traffic congestion on the roads during rush hour.
Meanwhile, PDA Director General Syed Zafar Ali Shah inspected the locality. He was accompanied by the heads and officials of various sections of the PDA, including Directors of Coordination, Roads, Estate Management, Building Control Agency (BCA), Horticulture, Water Supply and Sanitation, Electrical, Vigilance and Enforcement wings.
He reviewed the ongoing infrastructure development schemes and issued directives to the departments concerned to solve all pending civic issues on an urgent basis. He was of the view that Hayatabad should be turned into a model township.
