Lahore: Pakistan Railways is all set to launch a new state-of-the-art business train — the Pak Business Express — this week on the bustling Lahore-Karachi route, according to state-run media reports.
The new service aims to significantly enhance the travel experience for both business and leisure passengers through modern amenities and improved onboard comfort. According to Pakistan Television (PTV), the initiative marks a key milestone in Pakistan Railways’ broader fleet modernisation strategy.
Speaking to Business Recorder, Pakistan Railways spokesperson Babar Ali revealed that the Pak Business Express will consist of 28 digitally equipped coaches, all designed and assembled domestically. This is in contrast to the Green Line coaches, which were imported from China.

Passengers onboard will benefit from free Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the journey — a first for many rail travellers in Pakistan — along with an international-standard dining car offering premium meal services.
The train is expected to be formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Lahore on July 19, signaling the government’s renewed focus on upgrading public transport infrastructure.
The launch of the Pak Business Express reflects Pakistan Railways’ commitment to reviving rail travel as a reliable, efficient, and comfortable mode of transport, particularly between the country’s two largest cities.
