Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has finalized a plan to construct four new parking plazas in the city with a combined capacity of more than 5,000 vehicles. RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza shared the details during a briefing to Punjab Minister for Housing Bilal Yasin.
She said two parking plazas will be built near Kachehri Chowk, while the remaining two will be constructed on Jinnah Road in Raja Bazaar to ease traffic congestion in busy commercial areas.

During the briefing, the RDA also provided updates on major infrastructure projects. Officials informed the minister that work on the Rawalpindi Ring Road has reached 78 percent completion. Later, the housing minister visited the Banth Interchange to review progress on the Ring Road project. RDA officials said the project will become operational by the end of March 2026.
The authority is also planning to widen Murree Road by 15 feet on both sides and construct an underpass on Ninth Avenue to develop a signal-free corridor between Rawalpindi and Islamabad.
The minister directed the authority to ensure timely completion of all urban development projects, highlighting the importance of efficient planning and continued focus on city development.
