Karachi: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) for Overseas Pakistanis Sayed Zulfikar Bukhari recently announced that Roshan Digital Accounts would ultimately be converted into digital banking, according to news sources.
Mr Bukhari stated that the incumbent government was working on introducing different incentive programs through the Roshan Digital Accounts initiative to curb all the indirect means of transferring money to the country. He made these remarks while speaking at a virtual dialogue with founder of Corporate Pakistan Group (CPG) and Nutshell Group Azfar Ahsan, on a CPG dialogue platform titled “The Way Forward for Pakistan”.
On the occasion, Bukhari revealed that he was trying to ensure that the entire operation was under Prime Minister Imran Khan’s jurisdiction so that swift decisions could be taken. Moreover, he said that all efforts were being made to introduce a one-window mechanism for overseas Pakistanis to allow repatriation of funds with the ease of doing business. He also said that the Bank of Punjab and Roshan Digital Account were working on a mechanism for SMEs.
The SAPM further stated that PM Khan was overseeing all operations to facilitate overseas Pakistanis. He also took the opportunity to talk about Pakistan’s tourism sector and the large number of opportunities that were available in the sector.
