Lahore: The Lahore Central Business District (CBD) has announced the completion of work on Phase-1 of the project by April 2022, news sources reported on December 12. The first phase includes the construction of 12 high-rise buildings each with 500-meter height.
According to sources, the sewage work on the 252-kanal project is 80 % complete, with road, footpath, lake, pedestrian passageways, electricity, and parking development work nearing completion. It was also revealed that the government is collaborating with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to raise the permissible height of urban buildings to 500 feet. Following the completion of phase 1, the development work on the remaining portion of the site will begin, which will comprise commercial buildings with the same architectural design as the UAE and Singapore.
According to a representative for the Lahore Central Business District Development Authority (LCBDDA), once the central business district is completed, Lahore would be the country’s first metropolis to have such a project. It is worth noting that the LCBDDA auctioned off five commercial plots in the CBD in September of this year, after which construction began in October. In total LCBDDA controlled 278 acres of land after its creation at the start of the year in February.
