Islamabad – At least 98,000 individuals are living illegally in almost 24 slum areas of Islamabad. These individuals also include foreigners having criminal track records. Search operation is underway against these immigrants.
An official of Interior Ministry has unveiled that these illegal residents in the slum areas mostly include Afghans and they bear no proof of their stay. He also said that some of the areas have been cleared out but remaining areas are still sensitive.
The official said that an option to develop pickets around the slum areas is under review. According to a report, 24 slum areas are located in the sectors I-9, I-10, I-11, H-9, H-10, G-6, G-7, G-8, F-6 and F-7.
