Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA)’s Development Working Party (DWP) on Tuesday provided its approval to the construction and rehabilitation of the 7th Avenue interchange and the I J Principal (IJP) Road, respectively, a news source reported.
To this effect, officials at the CDA-DWP meeting sanctioned the PC-Is for various infrastructure schemes. The initiatives included the expansion and rehabilitation (at a projected cost of PKR 6 billion) of the IJP Road and the construction (at a project cost of PKR 2 billion) of the 7th Avenue interchange at the intersection between the 7th Avenue and the Srinagar Garden Avenue near Aabpara.
Previously, the civic agency had contracted the services of a consultant for the upgradation of the IJP Road. The incumbent had recommended the construction of two additional rigid lanes and three flyovers to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Meanwhile, the construction of the 7th Avenue interchange is expected to be completed in two phases. According to reports, the PC-I of the project was designed with an aim to ease traffic load at the 7th Avenue.
