Sialkot: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has constituted 35 special teams to facilitate the institution in its recovery of taxes worth PKR 11 billion, a news source reported.
The teams have been tasked with collecting professional, sales, and income taxes from industrialists and traders operating in the Gujranwala division by June 30, 2019 – which is the deadline for availing the tax amnesty scheme introduced by the government.
The authority has warned tax defaulters that it would seal their bank accounts after the deadline’s expiry. Moreover, it has decided to seek the assistance of local courts for collecting taxes in the future.
The FBR recently uploaded an updated list of non-filers of income tax returns to its website; formatted in line with the government’s new policy efforts to expand the tax base. It contains the asset and account details of approximately six million non-active tax payers.
