Rawalpindi: The Punjab Government has released PKR 20 million for the restoration of Krishna Mandir in Rawalpindi, according to a news source. This is the only fully-functioning Hindu temple in the twin cities and the Hindu community has asked for its expansion, as it can’t accommodate worshippers.
The Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Deputy Administrator Muhammad Asif has said that the government has agreed to allocate funds for this on the request of a Member of Provincial Assembly, and that reconstruction work would start soon enough.
The Hindu community has also asked that the courtyard should be expanded to accommodate more than 100 people, and in order to do so, the ETPB should retrieve the shops that it has leased next to it. This, they have said, will allow the Hindus to celebrate their Holi and Diwali with much ease.
