Lahore: The provincial government has requested more time from the Supreme Court (SC) for the completion of the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project, a news source reported. Officials who are involved in the project reported that about 94% of the development work has been completed. They stated that the government needs more time from the court as the project has reached its final phase.
The SC had given a deadline of May 20, 2019 to complete the civil works pertaining to the project. Considering this deadline, the officials had slated the project for completion in July. They stated that given the remaining development work, it is now expected to reach completion in August or September.
Chinese contractors and high-level officials of the provincial government successfully completed the first test run of the OLMT from Dera Gujran to Ali Town at a speed of 10-km/h at the start of this month. Part of the City Metro Network, OLMT will connect Lahore Junction Railway Station, Grand Trunk Road, Multan Road, Raiwand, and McLeod Road after completion.
