Gwadar: Federal Minister of Energy Omar Ayub stated that the construction of the imported coal-based power plant project in Gwadar, Balochistan will begin soon, according to a news source.
This power plant will have the capacity to generate 300 megawatts (MW) of electricity. He said that if the project is executed successfully, it would resolve the power crises in the entirety of the Makran district, including Gwadar.
Minister Ayub also mentioned that PKR 17 billion has been allocated in the budget for this Fiscal Year ( FY 2019-20) for the purpose of connecting Makran to the national grid. PKR 6 billion of this sum will be utilised in the current year. He divulged this information while in talks with MNA Muhammad Aslam Bhootani.
It is to be noted that the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) approved this integration of the Makran district, particularly Gwadar, into the national grid system of Pakistan in the first quarter of this year.
