Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi on Thursday directed all relevant authorities to intensify coordinated efforts against encroachments on government land across the city.
According to an official statement, the commissioner instructed Deputy Commissioners, Town Municipal Administrations, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, the Anti-Encroachment Department, and other concerned agencies to remove existing encroachments and prevent further illegal occupation of public land.
He also directed authorities to take legal action against individuals involved in encroachments and ensure strict enforcement against violations contributing to traffic congestion.
Deputy commissioners from various districts submitted progress reports on ongoing anti-encroachment operations during the meeting.
Officials said Assistant Commissioner Shah Faisal Colony Abdul Sami carried out an operation at Badal Goth near Shahrah-e-Bhutto, where four illegally constructed houses were demolished.

The operation was conducted jointly by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Anti-Encroachment Department, local police, traffic police, and operational staff from K-Electric to ensure smooth execution and avoid traffic disruption.
In District Korangi, Assistant Commissioner Model Colony Nade Ali led another anti-encroachment operation from Malir Halt to Kala Board on the National Highway with support from municipal officials and police.
During the drive, authorities removed more than 15 fruit carts, juice stalls, and other roadside setups obstructing traffic flow. Officials warned violators of strict action in case of future encroachments, including fines and possible arrests.
The commissioner reiterated that anti-encroachment operations would continue across Karachi to improve traffic movement and protect government land from illegal occupation.
