Islamabad: The local administration recently announced its decision to put Murree on lockdown for tourists for a period of two weeks — with the initiative aimed at preventing the further spread of the novel coronavirus, a news source reported.
The development comes ahead of the weekend when the area is likely to attract large crowds of tourists as usual. According to the details available, in the wake of the novel coronavirus emergency, all hotels, motels, restaurants, rest houses and tourist spots in Murree will be closed for a fortnight or until further public notice.
In a related development, the Pakistan Railways has announced additional stopovers for trains at Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi. All trains travelling from the Karachi railway station will stop at Landhi, Drig Road, and Malir City railway stations for two minutes now.
Similarly, trains from Lahore will stop at Lahore Cantt, Walton and Kot Lakhpat railway stations, and all Rawalpindi trains will stop at the Chaklala railway station for two minutes.
