Islamabad: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan on Thursday ordered the provision of food and health services in shelter homes in the wake of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, a news source reported. As per the publication, he has further stated that the protection of the country’s homeless community was the responsibility of the state.
In this regard, the PM held a meeting with the focal person for shelter homes Naseem Ur Rehman. Given the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in the country, they discussed special arrangements for the homeless and poor people residing in the Panahgahs.
The PM opined that the government should focus on the underprivileged who were suffering from the worst of the outbreak’s impact. He added that with the novel coronavirus situation worsening, he would have an increased focus towards the homeless and vulnerable sections of the society.
PM Khan directed the focal person to offer his full attention to the provision of food and health services in the shelter homes. He also asked the well-off people of the society to play their role in expanding the network of these shelter homes. He added that the shelter home projects would only remain sustainable when the wealthy people contribute generously to the cause.
