Lahore: The Punjab government has announced a major housing initiative to construct 57,000 affordable homes across 21 districts in collaboration with the World Bank and private sector partners.
According to the provincial Housing Department, the project will be executed on government-owned land under a five-year plan. In the first phase, 41 sites have been identified for the construction of 2,000 housing units.

A department spokesperson said the scheme aims to provide quality housing to deserving citizens through easy installment plans. The project is designed to ensure affordability while maintaining construction standards. Essential facilities will also be provided to residents, with strict monitoring and inspections during the building process.
The Housing Department further confirmed that the initiative will soon be presented to the provincial cabinet for formal approval. Officials added that the scheme is expected to expand access to housing for low- and middle-income families while boosting public-private partnerships in the housing sector.
