Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has formed a 20-member demolition squad to take immediate action against illegal construction activities in the city, a news source reported. As per officials, this unit will work in close coordination with the field staff on this front.
The need to set up a demolition squad was deemed necessary as the RCB has maintained record of not more than 10% of illegal structures demolished in the city. Further, the board has notified the owners of illegal structures – ordering these individuals to regularise such buildings through fine payments.
According to reports, the RCB recently instructed its staff to notify the incidents of illegal practices during the construction process of such structures in order to take the action right away. The demolition squad will be assisted by the RCB Building Control Branch’s field staff to ensure that builders only construct the structures approved as per the building plans.
