Rawalpindi: The Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi (MCR) has initiated the renovation and development work worth PKR 700 million on the city’s roads, sewerage lines, nullahs, streetlights, and pipelines, a news source reported. As per the publication, the local government started the development work after the approval of the Punjab government.
Municipal Officer (Finance) Shahzad Gondal said that the second phase of development works in rural areas would commence at a later stage. According to the development plan, MCR has begun renovation in Khayaban, Pindora, Banni, Commercial Market, Satellite Town, Bagh Saradaran, Pirwadhai, Committee Chowk, Muslim Town, Sadiqabad, Bhabra Bazaar, and City Saddar Road areas.
Leh Expressway and Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) are two other important Rawalpindi projects which are expected to be developed on a timely basis.
The renovation work had remained stalled for the past two years due to lack of funds. As a result, the civic bodies could not rehabilitate Rawalpindi’s infrastructure.
