Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi Muhammad Mehmood has directed the authorities concerned to develop six commercial parking plazas around the city to ‘permanently resolve’ its prevalent parking issues — a news source reported. The commissioner gave these instructions during a meeting held to discuss the metropolis’s traffic concerns.
The parking plazas will be constructed at Kachehri Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Jinnah Road, Ghazni Market, Banni Market, and Commercial Market. It is also expected that this will help resolve the issue of traffic jams in the city.
The commissioner instructed the relevant officials of the municipal corporation to take immediate action on the matter of the construction of these parking plazas. He added that Rawalpindi was one of the largest cities of the country in terms of population, so it was not surprising that it had traffic issues. But, he said that these problems could be resolved by taking the ‘proper steps’.
