Islamabad: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has announced plans to hold an International Tourism Investment Conference in February 2026, aimed at attracting private sector investment and promoting the region’s tourism potential.
The announcement was made by AJK Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore during a meeting with a delegation of the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) in Islamabad. The prime minister said the conference would serve as a platform to showcase investment opportunities in Azad Kashmir, with a particular focus on tourism-related projects.

Highlighting the region’s natural landscape and climate, the prime minister said tourism could play a key role in supporting economic growth, creating employment, and encouraging the development of small and medium-sized enterprises. He added that the government is keen to engage with the business community to translate the sector’s potential into sustainable economic activity.
The ICCI delegation welcomed the initiative and stressed the importance of improving tourism infrastructure to support long-term growth. Chamber representatives expressed interest in collaborating with the AJK government to facilitate investor linkages and promote tourism and related sectors.
Both sides agreed on the need for closer public-private coordination to encourage investment and strengthen the tourism economy in Azad Kashmir.
