Karachi: The Sindh Cabinet on Wednesday formed a committee to identify land for setting up low-cost housing projects in katchi abadis (slums) in the provincial capital, a news source reported. Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Shah has been tasked with heading the committee. Other members include ministers Shabbir Bijarani and Mukesh Chawla.
Moreover, the provincial cabinet announced its decision to enact Letters of Administration and Succession Certificate Bill-2020 in a bid to enable the provision of letters of administration and succession certificates from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) instead of courts.
To this effect, Advisor to the Chief Minister on Law Murtaza Wahab stated that only designated component courts were issuing the said documents. He added that these judicial forums were empowered under Succession Act 1925 to issue letters of administration and succession certificates.
To facilitate the speedy provision of letters of administration and succession certificates, the provincial cabinet provided its approval to the proposed draft law and referred it to the provincial legislature for enactment.
