Islamabad: Several members of the business and export community have requested that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) simplify the process of submitting sales tax refund claims through it’s portal, a news source reported. Further, they have asked to be allowed to file their claims without having to fulfill the requirement of submitting various annexures alongside them.
Pakistan Tanners Association Chairman Sheikh Afzal Hussain stated that the requirement of submitting various annexure in order for exporters to be eligible for their sales tax refund makes the entire process cumbersome. He added that this is the reason that several exporters have pending requests since the past four months. He particularly requested the exclusion of annexure H, which is very difficult for importers to submit.
He went on to say that exporters are under a great deal of financial strain owing to the new policies and regulations of the FBR. He urged the board to step out and extend help to the business and export communities. He pointed out some flaws in the mobile application recently launched by the FBR for ease of tax returns filing.
