Rawalpindi: The Punjab government has announced its decision to invite open bidding for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project, a news source reported on October 5. According to the details revealed, the provincial executive intends to develop the initiative under a solicited project proposal.
The government had communicated its decision, reached during a meeting of the Public Private Partnership Authority (PPPA)’s policy and monitoring board last month, to Rawalpindi Commissioner Captain (retired) Mohammad Mehmood and Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Director General Ammara Khan on Tuesday (October 3).
According to reports, the RDA has been tasked with drafting a solicited project proposal for the RRR initiative within 90 days, whereas the Lahore Ring Road Authority (LRRA) will act as the executing agency under a public-private partnership (PPP) mode.
Moreover, the civic agency is expected to introduce commercial activities along the RRR route. To facilitate this measure, it will redefine its jurisdiction after seeking approvals from the authorities concerned.
