Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has decided to take action against property tax defaulters in the city – a news source reported. As per officials, the board recently prepared a list containing the name of individuals who had defaulting on amounts ranging between PKR 0.5 million and PKR 3 million. The list include 500 regular property tax defaulters.
According to details, the staff who fail to achieve the recovery targets would have to face departmental inquiry. The crackdown will be launched against both residential and commercial owners. People who do not submit their taxes would have their properties sealed and see cases registered against them. They will, however, be given the opportunity to submit the taxes and notices will be sent to them for the purpose.
The department has assigned the task of achieving targets for first half of the current fiscal year to the relevant staff.
In a related development, the excise department Rawalpindi also issued arrest warrants for 60 property tax defaulters in the city.
